Amaco V-389 Flame Orange Velvet Underglaze – 2 oz

Flame Orange Velvet Underglaze is a carrot color that is a bright red-orange at cone 05 (1st image), darkens at cone 5 (2nd image), and becomes a deep persimmon color at cone 10 (3rd image). A clear glaze accentuates the underglaze significantly at any temperature.

For Flame Orange Velvet Underglaze, we recommend using HF-10 Clear. HF-9 Zinc-Free Clear is recommended for use with underglazes to reduce the incidence of color shift. Most underglazes, stains, and coloring oxides will show their best color with Zinc-Free Clear.

Saturated color, dependability, and versatility make Velvets as popular for professionals as they are for children. Velvets fire true-to-color as a Cone 05/06 underglaze or fired to Cone 6.
Some colors remain true as high as Cone 10.

Try two finish possibilities: When left unglazed these colors have the rich textural appearance of velvet; when covered with AMACO Clear Transparent Matte or Clear Gloss they intensify in color. Can be easily applied to wet clay, greenware, or mature Cone 04 bisque (1063°C / 1945°F*)
